MONTANA IN ART

Picture
Glacier National Park is a fantastic spot for inspiration and exploration of using fabric and
stitching to create works based on the beauty of this special place.

Montana is known for beautiful mountain scenery, clear lakes and streams and for stunning 'big skies'. On much of the landscapes there live old homestead still standing as sentinels of the past.
Their strength and longevity are a testimony to the fortitude of those settlers who once occupied their wall.

Living along the river we are often visited by many different birds.
I love playing with recreating them into to textile art, exploring different textures and fibers.

Montana is filled with so many majestic and beautiful animals.
I often remark that it is hard to live here and NOT want to create art--as there is inspiration at every turn.
In my work, I enjoy blending tradional piecing, applique and cotton fabrics,
with a variety of different fibers and techniques to showcase the unique qualities of this amaizing state.
